Their concern is that it's wrong to take someone's freedom away, they can't marry each other; honestly all the people who are voting yes are either scared, selfish, or too drowned in religion to care. heck I'd go destroy a "yes on prop 8" sign WITH them if I could.

Luckily I hear that Bakersfield is opposite of this state in politics, so if I see 2 signs that say "no" here, and 7 that say "yes" imagine how enormous the percentage is of all of CA.

I'm going to have to agree with :devknuxphantm: on this one but I'll be as polite as I can.

Marriage has never been about men or women. It's about law and legal rights. There are certain legal rights and responsibilities entitled to married couples. At the very least, gay couples deserve legal rights and responsibilities so why would they not deserve the legal rights and responsibilities that come with marriage? It's like saying women can't vote or that rich people don't have to pay taxes. Gay couples should have the right to recieve benifits and have the responsibility to pay child support as citizens. You wouldn't want ANYONE exempt from paying child support would you?

And to call your friends "fags" and to make jokes about shooting yourself if you were gay is just insensitive. Would you say you would shoot yourself if you were black? Even in jest?

Yes, but they won't have the same rights. That's what bothers me.

There's a difference between not supporting someone and personally insulting their beliefs. By calling them fags, you seem to have done the latter. And if you're suicidal, you may have major depressive disorder which wouldn't be anyone's fault.
